The 2017 Scottish Traditional Boat Festival took place over the weekend of 24th & 25th June. The weather was fair, although a little cold at times, but it didn’t deter the crowds from descending on Portsoy to enjoy the event. There was music, crafts, a new Art Fair and food and drink aplenty over the weekend, enjoyed by the enthusiastic visitors who soaked up the Festival atmosphere.
We welcomed boats large and small to the town’s two harbours, including Festival favourite Isabella Fortuna, Comet BF 430, Topaz BF 1822, Waterwitch and Brunhilde, to name but a few. Skiff crews joined in competitive challenges on the water, joined by yoles from Orkney and Shetland for the first time, much to the delight of the crowds, before the turn in weather and water conditions which saw the competitions sadly cancelled.
All in all a good event which was well attended much to the delight of the organisers.
The next Festival takes place on 30th June & 1st July 2018 – our 25th Festival year – see you then!
